In two articles on 22 Sept. 2014, The Star newspaper  reported on the Siniawan heritage conservation project. which acted as a powerful catalyst for the heritage revival of this old, history charged town near Kuching. One of the key features of the project was its participatory approach.

The Sarawak Heritage Society was co-implementer of the project, which was described in more detail the SHS Newsletter N.5 (Jan. – Sept. 2011), p.8-11. (see our SHS Archive page)

Siniawan’s Pasar Malam has become increasingly popular on week ends.
